Cross Media Social Network Film Marketing …the Spongecell way..

An interesting video with the creators of the new pilot web site from Carnegie Mellon University, called Spongecell. Spongecell. brings together the interactivity of social networking to product marketing and promotion campaigns. An interesting example was the Yari Film Group in the USA..

Yari Film Group sees 40% opt-in

“We wanted to promote our movie “Final Season” and needed a web-based tool that could identify, promote, track and communicate with our audience in a meaningful way. Spongecell enabled us to automate the whole process—RSVPs, emails, manage comments, and within days we had an event page that allowed film-goers to request information, get a free movie ticket and forward invitations to others.

A phenomenal 40% of people opted in for information about the movie and all 50-plus screenings sold out across the country. We have never before seen such a positive result from an interactive campaign and look forward to using Spongecell to promote events in the future.”

Matt Gilhooley – Director of Online Operations, Yari Film Group.

Following is an interview with Ben Kartzman and Mikhail Lapushner of Spongecell
