Exciting java motions with this new wordsmith toy: The Thinkmap Visual Thesaurus. If you enjoy mind mapping, you’ll love this. Search a word and a pack of alternate word choices explode into sight, bounce around like a windswept hanging mobile then settle down as we settle into the results. Click on a result word and it takes you off into a new ‘explosion’. Searched words have a speaker icon nearby-useful for learning how to pronounce tricky new words or to rectify a trashy vocabulary. It’s only delivered online and via desktop at this stage, so when will it be delivered to mobiles?

Addicted to data visualisation as I am - I love ThinkMap. It was actually born in the late 90’s and was pretty impressive back then. Nice example of a really good idea and a robust environment (Java), both of which have endured the test of time, where others have evaporated without a trace…
