Catch that bouncing word

Exciting java motions with this new wordsmith toy: The Thinkmap Visual Thesaurus. If you enjoy mind mapping, you’ll love this. Search a word and a pack of alternate word choices explode into sight, bounce around like a windswept hanging mobile then settle down as we settle into the results. Click on a result word and it takes you off into a new ‘explosion’. Searched words have a speaker icon nearby-useful for learning how to pronounce tricky new words or to rectify a trashy vocabulary. It’s only delivered online and via desktop at this stage, so when will it be delivered to mobiles?

Thinkmap licenses the platform out for companies to develop bespoke visual map applications for data such as industry intelligence, CRM, supply chain management and logistics. It would make boring data so much more sexy. Smart thinkin’. ..erm, I mean think-ing.

  • Addicted to data visualisation as I am - I love ThinkMap. It was actually born in the late 90’s and was pretty impressive back then. Nice example of a really good idea and a robust environment (Java), both of which have endured the test of time, where others have evaporated without a trace…
