Bring the Love Back

We have seen a lot of videos about the changing media environment but this one nearly a year old, slipped through the net. So just been to a great business, Trans-Tasman lunch and Tony Surtees who was speaking about ‘The Conversation’ played this very cool video which reinforces my previous post. Funny and worrying for traditional advertising models at the same time.

  • So where do we go to from here, Epic?

  • To me the video has a simple message - advertising is about a relationship (EPIC is about consolidation of information). From an advertising perspective regardless of all the clever ways of presenting ‘data’ you still need ad messages that are not ‘machine’ generated - so to me the message in the video is simply the consumer saying listen to us, give us personalised messages, empower us and going beyond that you can still give us a level of ’spam’ advertising but you must pay us in good, worthwhile free content. Audiences are no longer happy with that last relationship if the content itself is poor and not relevant. Epic is part of the mix but looking at the emphasis ad agencies now place on ’search’ I wonder if Google are already in the home straight?
