Behind the times

I was reading on Tubefilter News about the new ARG web series “Do You Believe Me?” that has just scored distribution with I-Rights, of the Digital Rights Group, when I saw a comment about an ARG from 2005 - Perplex City and followed the link.

Why oh why do I always hear about these things after the fact?? *sigh* (mind you, living outside the UK it may have been a little hard to win the game but I could at least have had some fun with it!).  This is Blair Witch Project all over again for me  (by this I mean that the word was out about the “truth” of the film before I saw it).

Having always had an overactive imagination I love the idea of Alternate Reality Games, and although I have never had the experience of being involved in one outside of helping prepare props for one of the LAMP experiences, I’m sure I would really enjoy the immersive nature of such a game (DANGER! DANGER! Images of neglecting study due to enthusiasm for game come to mind).

Anyway, now that I work in Digital Media at AFTRS, an environment where I can learn about how to know about all the exciting up and comings before they come up, I resolve to know about these things in time to enjoy them…Properly!  And, if I don’t manage that - I’ll just apply for the Games Design course and make my own!

8-O Oh the possibilities.
